Terms and Conditions - Self Guided Walking Holidays

1. Service Providers

Your contract is with the provider of the services. We (AMS Outdoors) have an established relationship with all our accommodation and service providers.  We constantly review their performance to ensure a high standard is maintained. 

2. Reservations & Invoicing

Reservations are subject to availability and will be confirmed upon receipt of a deposit payment. All accommodation details and confirmation of your deposit payment will be forwarded within 24hrs - 48hrs dependent upon response times from accommodations and service providers

3. Payment

Specially Priced Packages - If booking a specially priced package, the full payment will need to be made at time of booking - Note: Paying by Direct Bank Transfer (BACs), currency to be paid in GBP, no additional charges for this option (Contact us for the bank details) AMS Outdoors will not be responsible for any charges made by your bank. If paying for the Special Packages in full via PayPal this option will incur a surcharge of 4.5% on you full payment.

Normally Priced Package - Deposit Payment of £50pp (Cycle Tour Packages £200pp) is required at time of booking, this can be paid directly in the bank (BACs), currency to be paid in GBP, no additional charges for this option. Paying your deposit of £50pp via PayPal will not incur a surcharge

Normally Prices Package - Final Payments, this will be required to be paid 45 days (6 weeks for Cycle Tour Packages) before arrival, if paying by direct bank transfer (BACs), currency to be paid in GBP, no additional charges for this option. Paying your final payment by PayPal there will be a surcharge of 4.5% added to your final balance.

4. Booking Amendments

AMS Outdoors will make every effort to assist in any alterations you may request to your holiday arrangements. However, in instances of confirmed bookings, an Amendment Fee of £30 will be charged to cover the cost of re-booking.

5. Cancellations

If for any reason you have to cancel, AMS require notice to cancel in writing. Cancellation will only be accepted from the date in which AMS receives the letter of cancellation.

Cancellation Terms:

0-14 days               No Money Back
15-21 days             10% Back
22-45 Days             50% Back

£50pp - Deposit Payments are Non-Refundable

Payments made for Specially Priced Packages include the £50pp deposit payment - these are Non-Refundable and the same Cancellation Terms Apply as above

6. Accommodation Changes made by AMS Outdoors.

On occasion an accommodation may become unavailable due circumstances outwith any ones control. We reserve the right to book an alternative accommodation. In such cases you will be advised of the change at the earliest opportunity.

7. Luggage Transfer

Bags must weigh no more than 20 kilos or less depending on the individual carrier’s conditions. Excess items, however small, may incur an extra charge and overweight bags may not be moved.

  • No items to be attached on to luggage (boots etc)
  • Please ensure luggage labels (attached by carrier) are attached and visible daily
  • No valuable or breakable items to be left in transferable luggage
  • Luggage to be available from 9am each morning

If you believe your bag has been damaged in transit, please advise us immediately - Please note that the maximum claim for damage to your bag will be £50

8. Responsibility

AMS Outdoors does not accept responsibility for death, injury or illness of customers on any walk. All routes are followed at your own risk. Bookings are made on the understanding that participants have considered the nature of the route, are physically fit and do not have any medical condition that may make physical activity dangerous for them. Use of any transportation arranged by AMS Outdoors is at your own risk.

9. Personal Insurance

We recommend that you are protected by a Comprehensive Holiday Insurance with cover for cancellation or curtailment, baggage loss, personal injury and Third Party Liability. 

10. Force Majeure

AMS Outdoors cannot accept responsibility for any loss or damage resulting from war or terrorist activities, weather conditions, fire, flood or drought, airport closures, rescheduling of means of transport, or any other eventuality outwith our control which may delay or extend the holiday.

11. Complaints

AMS Outdoors welcomes all feedback.  We try to ensure you have an enjoyable holiday. If you have any problems please contact us immediately and we will do our best to resolve them. Any complaints should be made as soon as reasonably practical and in any event to our office in writing within 28 days of the end of your holiday.

12. Information

While every care has been taken to ensure that the information provided by AMS Outdoors is correct, all information is subject to alteration without notice. AMS Outdoors accepts no liability for any inaccuracy in the information produced.


Additional Terms and Conditions - Dog Friendly

  1. Your dog must be kept under control at all times. 
  2. AMS Outdoors operate a one dog per booking
  3. There may be a "damage deposit" levied daily by your accommodation provider.  This will be paid and collected locally.
  4. AMS Outdoors accepts no liability whatsoever for damage to third parties caused by the action of your dog.  The dog is the sole responsibility of its owners/carers.


Additional Terms and Conditions - Mountain Biking

  1. Every rider should obey the rules of the country of which you are cycling through.
  2. AMS Outdoors accepts no liability whatsoever for damaged caused to third parties by your bicycle.
  3. The bicycle is the sole responsibility of the rider/owner.
  4. AMS Outdoors accepts no responsibility for the security of your bicycle when left at any premises throughout your West Highland Way or other cycle route that you have booked through AMS Outdoors.
